Fun on the Mediterranean – Boat trips in Malaga

Malaga’s enviable position on the Mediterranean coast of Spain means that it’s a prime location for messing about on the water. Whether you’re visiting or are lucky enough to live nearby and want family and friends to have an amazing day out, one highly recommended experience is a boat ride.

 A great starting point is Muelle Uno, a waterfront leisure area with some great shops, bars and restaurants and excellent parking facilities. As soon as you step out of the car park, you’ll notice several companies to your right, behind the stalls, offering various boat trips that allow you to view Málaga in all its glory from the sea.

  • Mundo Marino: This company offers a wide range of cruises, including those that stop for half an hour so you can swim in the sea, excursions with paella, or simple bay trips where you go out and return. They operate a catamaran, providing a unique and enjoyable sailing experience
  • City Sightseeing: Known for its standard and good value  boat trips, this company also offers a combo with a bus tour and discounts at a local restaurant if you book with them
  • Flyblue offers both sunset cruises and daytime swim stop tours on their luxurious catamaran. These trips provide a fantastic way to experience Málaga from the water, whether you’re looking to enjoy the golden hues of a sunset over the city or take a refreshing dip during the day. The catamaran is designed for comfort, making it a great option for those seeking a more upscale and relaxing boating experience.

All the trips seem to offer drinks and snacks, with some even providing meal deals that include paella. Choose the timing of your trip with care – . temperatures during the midday and early afternoon tours can be high during the summer, and there isn’t much shade once you’re on board. However, the City Sightseeing tour does have a lower deck where you can escape the sun. Suncream is a must, and if you prefer not to buy drinks on board, you can bring your own.

In the autumn and winter seasons, discount sites like Groupon often have deals on boat trips. In fact, if you’re not particularly interested in swimming, a low season trip might be more enjoyable due to Málaga’s mild climate.
