How to get a Padron certificate in ARBOLEAS Almeria

In simple terms, the Padron in Spain is like the Electoral Register in the UK; it’s a list of residents in a town or area. The full name in Spanish is Certificado de Empadronamiento, but most people just refer to it as the Padron and once you’re officially registered you are “Empadronado”. 

Not only is the Padron essential for many administrative procedures you’ll need to complete in Spain, registration also benefits your local town because the more “empadronados” a town has, the more money they can claim from central government.

Where do I get a Padron in ARBOLEAS?

You need to apply at your local Town Hall, here’s the address:

The Town Hall itself is a very striking building, right in the middle of the main square, with 4 large pillars flying the EU, Spanish, Andalusian and Town flags and the word AYUNTAMIENTO 1988 proudly painted above them.

Where to park? 

Parking is readily available in the centre, either on-street or in small car parks not far from the Town Hall.

Information specific to getting a Padron in Arboleas

It can take up to 15 days to get the actual Padron certificate, so plan this into your timeline. 

You don’t need an appointment, you can just turn up. Go in the Town Hall main door and the “Atencion al Ciudadano” windows are down the hall on the right.

Requirements and documents:

• Passports – with copy of photo page (and visa page if applicable) PLUS:
• If you rent your property – bring the rental contract (in Spanish) signed on all pages by both parties and your contract should be for 6 months or longer
• If you own your property – bring proof of ownership (deeds, nota simple etc)

You may also be asked to complete a form for the Padron application, which you can do on the spot.
