Spanish Consulate in Edinburgh

In order to live, work or retire in Spain, UK passport holders need to apply for a visa via one of the Spanish Consulates in the UK – each Consulate covers a specific area of the country

If you live in Scotland, Northern Ireland or the northern counties of England (Cleveland, Cumbria, Durham, Northumberland, Tyne & Wear/Tees Valley) your Spanish consulate is in Edinburgh.

IMPORTANT:

Although it will be the Edinburgh Consulate that will process your visa, for the visa application appointment itself you’ll need to visit a different office – BLS International.

You’ll only need to visit the Consulate if you choose the option to collect your visas rather rather than having your passports posted to you.

YOUR VISA APPLICATION APPOINTMENT:

Address and contact details:

By Train – You’d need to travel to Edinburgh Waverley and then get either a bus or taxi to Commercial Quay, there are no direct trains.
By Bus – From Princes Street catch the No. 16 Silverknowes service. You get off the bus at the Scottish Government stop and the BLS office is about a minute’s walk

Getting there – Edinburgh Consulate
By car – Like any city, there are plenty of public car parks – check out websites/apps like Parkopedia or Parkbee to book in advance.  The closest to the Consulate are either Q-Park Omni or Castle Terrace.
By train – Edinburgh Waverley is the main train station and is walking distance from the Consulate (15 minutes max). A stroll down Princes Street and right turn onto Castle Street will take you almost to the door. There’s even an excellent tapas bar just round the corner.
By Bus – There are various bus services that stop nearby – the Moovit app has a full list
