Spanish Consulate in London

Now that the UK is no longer a member of the European Union, in order to live, work or retire in Spain, UK passport holders need to apply for a visa at one of the Spanish consulates in the UK.

Which consulate you need to visit depends on where you live in the UK. If you live in the South West, South East or East Anglia, you’ll need to go to the Spanish consulate in London.

Getting there

By car
London is not a city that lends itself to travelling by car – parking is challenging and the Congestion Charge is a factor. However, there are parking options within less than 10 minutes walk from the Consulate if needed.

Check out websites/apps like Parkopedia or Parkbee to pre-book your parking space in advance – the closest options are either Sloane Avenue or Chelsea Cloisters.

By train
Travelling by train removes the need to find a parking space and the London Underground is very convenient for getting around the capital easily and quickly. The nearest main train station is Victoria and the closest tube station to the consulate is Sloane Square on the Circle Line, accessible from Liverpool Street, Paddington and Kings Cross main train stations.

When booking your train ticket, you can add on a Travelcard for unlimited bus and tube travel while you are in London – trainline.com is a good place to start.

By Bus
There are various bus services that stop nearby – the Moovit app has a full list

Be prepared!
It’s not always possible to pay in cash on public transport and this page on Transport for London website lists the various travelcards and Oyster Cards that you can pre-purchase to make life easier and get discounts too sometimes.

At the Consulate

Be sure to arrive early and have your documents prepared and organised as per the Checklist and application pack that we send you.

Even if there’s a queue, because you have an appointment you can go straight to the front door, show your email confirmation and you’ll be given instructions from there.
