What documents DON´T you need for your NLV Renewal

We always focus on the documents needed for your Non-Lucrative Visa (NLV), but the good news is that there are two documents that you DON’T need for the renewal – read on to find out more.

The Medical Certificate

Remember when you first applied for your NLV and had to get that medical certificate proving you didn’t have any exportable diseases? You probably had to get it translated into Spanish and apostilled, too.

Well, you can cross this certificate off your “to-do” list for your renewal. As you’re now living in Spain, you’re not bringing any new diseases into the country, so this piece of paper is not required.

The Criminal Records Check

For your initial visa application, you need a criminal records check, like the ACRO Criminal Records Check if you’re from the UK. If you lived in other countries in the previous five years, you probably had to provide checks from there too.

For the renewal, you can skip this step because Spanish immigration will do their own background check to see if you’ve got into any trouble while living here. They’ll also check with the Social Security and tax offices to ensure you don’t owe anything.

More good news!

Even better news is that there are no extra consular fees to pay. However, there are still two taxes to pay: one for the initial renewal application (submitted online using a digital certificate) and a second tax to register the renewal and receive your updated residency TIE card.

Upsticks has successfully completed over 200 Non-Lucrative Visa renewals. For more information about the requirements, check out the video above, and email support@upsticks.es if your renewal is coming up soon!
