Tracking migratory movements: a free tool for Spanish residents
If you hold non-lucrative residency in Spain, keeping an accurate record of your travel should be part of your routine.
At Upsticks, we are seeing increasingly close scrutiny of migratory movements by immigration offices. Keeping a clear record of when you leave Spain and when you return can make preparing your next residency application much easier.
Keep proof of your travel
It is essential that all travel outside Spain is recorded in some way, even if you cannot obtain a passport stamp. This includes short trips and visits to other Schengen countries. Record your departure and return dates and keep whatever supporting evidence is available.
Where possible, ask for a passport stamp when crossing a border where stamping is available. However, we understand that obtaining stamps is not always possible, and travel within the Schengen Area will often leave no passport record.
Keep boarding passes, flight confirmations, ferry tickets and other evidence of your journeys. Do not rely on passport stamps alone.
Why your travel history matters
When we prepare your first renewal, second renewal or application for larga duración — long-term residency after five years — we will need a complete history of your migratory movements.
Keeping this information up to date from the start is much easier than trying to reconstruct several years of travel when your application is due.
Download your free Upsticks Travel History form
To help you stay organised, Upsticks has created a free, fillable Travel History form.
Click here to download the free Upsticks Travel History form
Save it to your phone or laptop and open it in a PDF reader that supports fillable forms. After each trip, enter your travel details and save the updated copy. Keep your supporting travel documents alongside it.
The form is designed to help you organise your records; it does not replace evidence of your journeys.
A few minutes after each trip could save hours of searching when your next application comes around.
